The Yorktown Tigers might've scored the first points on Friday, but it was the Delta Eagles who claimed the real prize. Yorktown fell just short of Delta by a score of 24-21. Despite the loss, Yorktown had strong showings from Mason Moulton, who threw for 199 yards and three touchdowns, and Ephraim Daugherty, who picked up 82 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Kaiden Bond was a one-man wrecking crew for Delta as he rushed for 174 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. Bond was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards.
Delta's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 3.5 times. Leading the way was Braxton Russell and his two sacks.
Yorktown now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Delta, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.
Yorktown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Delta will head out on the road to face off against Garrett at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Garrett is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
