The Longmont Trojans will take on the Horizon Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Longmont's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Horizon's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Last Tuesday, Longmont was able to grind out a solid victory over Mead, taking the game 5-1.

03/26/25 vs Green Mountain | 3 |
04/08/25 vs Skyline | 2 |
Tyson Hagen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Longmont is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Collin Pool, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple. Longmont is undefeated when Pool posts three or more RBI, but 4-5 otherwise. Travis Check was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Horizon won against Skyline on Tuesday with three runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Hawks had just enough and edged out Mountain Range 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Hawks sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Horizon's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Brennan, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Brennan has posted since back in May of 2024.
Horizon's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Longmont, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
Longmont's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Trojans have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Horizon, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Longmont continue to outrun the ball?
