Softball Recap: Lincoln Has No Trouble Against St. Mary's

Lincoln got themselves on the board against St. Mary on Saturday, but St. Mary's never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 12-0 win. With that victory, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Xeanna Samifua was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia (Peewee) Holtz, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Lincoln always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Mary's only posted an OBP of .214.

Lincoln has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. Mary's, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Lincoln is set to square off against their familiar foe Kimball at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, St. Mary's will challenge rival West at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
