Northern is 0-7 against Fort Hill since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Northern Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Fort Hill Sentinels at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Northern had no problem doing just that on Friday. They didn't even let Clear Spring onto the board and left with a 49-0 victory. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Northern's two-point performance the matchup before.
Northern's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jared Graham, who rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Graham was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards. Kyle Broadwater also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Fort Hill put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Allegany with a sharp 47-21 victory. Fort Hill pushed the score to 34-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Allegany cut but never quite recovered from.
It was another big night for Jabril Daniels, who rushed for 146 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Daniels has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last six times he's played. Tristan Ross also helped out as he racked up 136 rushing yards.
Their wins bumped Northern to 6-4 and Fort Hill to 9-0.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Northern has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 211.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Fort Hill struggles in that department as they've been even better at 334.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
