Baseball Recap: Suwannee Now 14-1 over Last 15 Games

Suwannee had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Wolfson on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Wolfpack a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Grayson Greene tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hampton Newman was a standout: he scored a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Koy Frier, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Suwannee hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive contests.

Suwannee has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Wolfson, they dropped their record down to 11-15 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Suwannee will face off against Paxon School For Advanced Studies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. Wolfson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
