4A Region II District 14 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Pine Tree moved up to 361 from 571 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region II District 14. A 28-21 win over Lindale helped the Pirates improve their standing.
Hallsville extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Nacogdoches, 40-12. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Sulphur Springs's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brad Macek threw for 264 and three touchdowns and Willy Ivery had 102 yards receiving. On the ground Buddy Ivery chipped in 137 yards. Cole Hill helped Sulphur Springs' passing attack out by catching five balls for 67 yards.
Sulphur Springs' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Macek has thrown for 1300 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Hill has 45 catches for 622 yards. Ivery leads the league in rushing with 535 yards.
