The Casey-Westfield Warriors will take on the Oakwood Comets in a tournament on Saturday. Casey-Westfield will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.
Casey-Westfield's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Robinson 8-0. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 14 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ava Goble made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one stolen base. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Anna Karras and Allyson Truelove did most of the damage at the plate: Karras went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Truelove went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Karras has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Tristan Ring, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Oakwood made sure to put some runs up on the board against Milford on Wednesday. The Comets came out on top against the Bearcats by a score of 17-12. With that win, the Comets brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Like Casey-Westfield, Oakwood also got a great game from a two-way player: Irene Rangel. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and seven unearned) runs off eight hits. Rangel was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Oakwood let Caydence Vermillion and Bella Bradford run wild. Vermillion went 3-for-5 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs, while Bradford went 4-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Matilyn Griffis, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI and one double.
Oakwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .488. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Oakwood has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Casey-Westfield, their win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Casey-Westfield hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Oakwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Casey-Westfield took their victory against Oakwood in their previous meeting back in April of 2018 by a conclusive 15-1 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
