The Seneca Bobcats are taking a road trip to challenge the McDowell Trojans at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Seneca's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so McDowell's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Seneca is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Mercyhurst Prep on Thursday. They fell 7-2 to the Lakers. The Bobcats' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Sophia Primavere put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
Primavere wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mallory Hammill, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Hammill has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McDowell). They blew past Warren 24-0 on Friday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Like Seneca, McDowell also got a great game from a two-way player: Emma Mickel. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Mickel was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Mriabela Zaczyk was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Lockwood, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
McDowell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .730. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
McDowell is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Seneca, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.
