The Plattsmouth Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Gretna East Griffins on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, Plattsmouth humbled Lexington with a 48-7 victory.
A big part of Plattsmouth's win came down to the chemistry between Levi Walker and his top target Bradin Vanwinkle. Walker rushed for 180 yards and two touchdowns while Vanwinkle rushed for 93 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. The dominant performance gave Walker a new career-high in rushing yards. Henry Loontjer got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Plattsmouth was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 350 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, while Gretna East put up plenty of points on Thursday, the same can't be said for Standing Bear. Gretna East simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Standing Bear 61-0 on the road. The victory was some much needed relief for the Griffins as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Seth Kraegel was a one-man wrecking crew for Gretna East as he picked up 136 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Gretna East's defense and their three sacks. In that department, Frank Thomas was the leader with two.
The win got Plattsmouth back to even at 2-2. As for Gretna East, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
