The Stratford Spartans won the last time they faced the Spring Woods Tigers, and things went their way on Saturday too. Stratford came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 59-48. Given Stratford's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 462nd, while the Tigers are ranked 953rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anjalena Salazar, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Salazar also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Adriana Castro was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Stratford is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season. As for Spring Woods, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-17.
Stratford will take on the Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Spring Woods, they will head out on the road to square off against the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
