Basketball Recap: Seven Straight Road Victories for Ashley Ridge

Ashley Ridge won the last time they faced Stall and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes came out on top against the Stall Warriors by a score of 69-56. Given the Swamp Foxes' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Warriors are ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ashley Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Clayton Everett Jr, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and 11 boards. Everett Jr's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ben Duncan, who went 7 of 9 en route to 16 points and four steals.

Ashley Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Despite the defeat, Stall had strong showings from Donte Ward, who posted 24 points, and Jamir Sanders, who put up 16 points.

Ashley Ridge's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.1 points per game. As for Stall, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ashley Ridge will venture away from home to square off against Summerville at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Ashley Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 games -- so hopefully Summerville likes a good challenge. As for Stall, they will head out to challenge West Ashley at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (West Ashley has three straight wins, Stall has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
