Basketball Recap: King's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Steinbrenner, King was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They skirted past the Freedom Patriots 54-51. The win was some much needed relief for the Lions as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

King's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rodney Smith, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 12 points in addition to five boards and five steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nuri Hakim, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 13 points along with six assists and five boards.

Freedom's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Peter Radigan, who posted six points and 19 rebounds. Josh DeVore was another key player, putting up 12 points.

King's win bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Freedom, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

King wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-50 loss against Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate on the 14th. As for Freedom, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ball at 5:30 p.m. on December 27th.
