If the Jackson-Milton Bluejays were riding high off their 42-22 takedown of the Memorial Red Devils on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Jackson-Milton took a hard 59-45 fall against McDonald on Thursday. Jackson-Milton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as McDonald apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Jackson-Milton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Johns, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Macayle Thornhill, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Jackson-Milton has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for McDonald, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jackson-Milton will square off against Medina Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Jackson-Milton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Thursday. McDonald will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Heartland Christian at 7:00 p.m. on February 12th.
