Section 9 A recap November 5, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Wallkill, who defeated 217th ranked Roosevelt, 55-47.
The Panthers moved up to 206 from 239 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 9 A. Wallkill was able to move up by topping the Presidents 55-47.
Justin Hoskins provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Roosevelt fell to Brian Vegliando's team. Hoskins' favorite target this week was Michael Bryan, who caught 4 passes for 55 yards.
Mike White threw for 215 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was 13-20 with 0 interceptions.
Hoskins was a force in the backfield as Brian Bellino's team lost to the Panthers.
Matt Robinson was the best wideout in the league this week as Cornwall Central topped Port Jervis. Robinson tallied 7 receptions for 102 yards. Kobe Thomas helped Cornwall Central's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 73 yards.
Cornwall Central's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Dragons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. White has thrown for 2,032 yards and 23 touchdowns this season, while Chris Bauer has 34 catches for 746 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Cornwall Central takes on second place Wallkill. The Dragons topped the Raiders last week, while Wallkill defeated the Presidents.
Monticello was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in Section 9 A. The Panthers defeated Spackenkill 19-6 earlier in the week.
