The biggest upset of the week belonged to Pitman, who took down 144th ranked Pitman, 44-13. Eli Gutierrez threw for 177 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 102 yards in the win.
Merced moved up to 108 from 162 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Central California. The Bears climbed the ranks as a result of topping the Pride 44-13.
Merced's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Errol Dennis chipped in 122 yards. Travante Richard helped Merced's passing attack out by catching two balls for 54 yards.
Bradley Adamson was the best wideout in the league this week as Rob Scheidt's team topped Pitman. Adamson racked up four receptions for 84 yards.
Merced's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bears feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Gutierrez has thrown for 1495 yards and 22 touchdowns this season, while Adamson has 31 catches for 624 yards. Dennis leads the league in rushing with 749 yards.
A big matchup in Central California this week will be when Atwater takes on the Bears. The Falcons are in third place, while Merced is in fourth place.
