For the first time this season, Wyoming Seminary College Prep will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Wyoming Area Warriors at 4:15 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Last Monday, Wyoming Seminary College Prep got the win against Holy Cross by a conclusive 13-2. The result was nothing new for the Blue Knights, who have now won three contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Teddy Kraus made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Wyoming Seminary College Prep is undefeated when Kraus allows two or fewer earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Kraus was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Ryan Finlay and Shaun Behrens did most of the damage at the plate: Finlay scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Behrens went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Finlay a new career-high. Caleb Aponick was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Wyoming Seminary College Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Wyoming Area hadn't done well against Tunkhannock recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Warriors blew past the Tigers 16-1. With that win, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Mitchell Rusinchak was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Rusinchak was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Wyoming Area got a massive performance out of Jeremy Layland, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That RBI was Layland's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Robbie Yatsko, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Wyoming Seminary College Prep's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Wyoming Area, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wyoming Seminary College Prep has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wyoming Area struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Wyoming Seminary College Prep came up short against Wyoming Area when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 6-3. Can the Blue Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
