There's no place like home for the Edinburg Bobcats, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 58-41 win over Pharr-San Juan-Alamo on Tuesday. Given Edinburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 584th, while Pharr-San Juan-Alamo is ranked 1383rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Edinburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Axel Navarro led the charge by scoring 11 points along with six assists. Phoenix McBride was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hector Sanchez, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Adrian Webber, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Edinburg's victory bumped their record up to 18-11. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, their loss was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 8-25.
Edinburg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-31 victory vs. Mission on the 9th. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo has also already played their next match, a 49-42 victory against Economedes on the 9th.
