The Olympic Heights Lions will face off against the Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars at 6:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Olympic Heights will roll into the  matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one  run  on Monday, then bounced right back against Atlantic Christian  on Tuesday. The Lions put the hurt on the Sharks with a sharp  21-4 victory. Considering the Lions' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
 Kaitlyn Courtney made a splash while hitting and pitching. She  pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   two  hits. Courtney was even better at the plate,  scoring three  runs while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances. What's more,  she posted three  RBI, the most she's  had since back in March.

 In other batting news, Olympic Heights let  Alexa Andersen and  Elsie Throckmorton run wild. Andersen  went a perfect 2-for-2 with three  runs, four  RBI,  and one  double, while  Throckmorton  scored three  runs while going 3-for-3. Those  three  runs gave  Throckmorton a new career-high.  Brielle Crawley was another key player,  scoring a  run while going 1-for-2.
 Olympic Heights  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 11  hits. They are  a perfect 4-0 when  they post 11 or more  hits.
Meanwhile,  winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Somerset Academy - Canyons). They blew past Leonard 19-8 on Monday. With that  win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 7  runs per game.
 Ryleigh Singer and  Riley Rosenberg made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound,  Singer   pitched 1.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Meanwhile,  Rosenberg   struck out eight batters over  4.1 innings while giving up just one earned  (and six unearned) runs off   four  hits. Singer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate,  Singer  fired off two  home runs, eight  RBI,  and four  runs while going 4-for-5, while  Rosenberg  scored a  run while going 3-for-5. Those  home runs were  Singer's first of the season.
 In other batting news,  Lisa Nguyen and  Ava Midgett did most of the damage at the plate:  Nguyen  scored four  runs and  stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while  Midgett  scored three  runs while going 2-for-4. Midgett also  hit a  double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was  Angela Lopez, who  got  no  hits from her five  at bats.
 Somerset Academy - Canyons' victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Olympic Heights, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.
Wednesday's   game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Olympic Heights has hit smart this season,  having  averaged  an OBP of .530. However, it's not like Somerset Academy - Canyons struggles in that department as   they've  averaged .483. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
 Olympic Heights suffered a grim  13-3 defeat to Somerset Academy - Canyons  in their previous matchup  back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
