Piketon is 0-10 against Unioto since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Piketon Redstreaks will head out on the road to face off against the Unioto Shermans at 7:15 p.m. Piketon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 299th, while Unioto is ranked 102nd).
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 75-46, which was the final score in Piketon's tilt against Adena on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Piketon in their matchups with Adena: they've now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, Unioto had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 44.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 78-11 win over Zane Trace. Unioto might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five matches by 37 points or more this season.
Unioto's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Milee Smith led the charge by scoring 19 points. The match was Smith's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Hamilton, who scored 15 points along with 7 assists and 6 steals.
Their wins bumped Piketon to 3-2 and Adena to 5-0.
Piketon was dealt a bruising 73-37 defeat at the hands of Unioto in their previous matchup back in January. Can Piketon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
