The Walnut Ridge Scots will be playing at home against the Independence 76ers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Walnut Ridge ended up a good deal behind Briggs and lost 34-18.
Meanwhile, Independence had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 48-6 win over West. The result was nothing new for Independence, who have now won three matchups by 28 points or more so far this season.
Independence's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Robarje Magnus, who rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Magnus was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. Another player making a difference was Montael Davis, who rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries.
Walnut Ridge has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Independence, their win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 4-5.
Walnut Ridge might still be hurting after the 28-8 loss they got from Independence in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Walnut Ridge, Antonio Harris (who rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
