After both having extra time off, the George Washington Prep Generals and the Crenshaw Cougars will shake off the rust and duke it out at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. George Washington Prep will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
George Washington Prep hadn't beaten Jordan on the road since May 4, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them last Wednesday. The Generals blew past the Bulldogs 24-5. Considering the Generals have won six contests by more than 11 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Aracely Gonzalez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. Gonzalez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Holland Allen and Emily Varela did most of the damage at the plate: Allen went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs, while Varela got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those six RBI gave Allen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zachery Garcia, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
George Washington Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Crenshaw and Hawkins meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again last Wednesday. The Cougars lost 25-17 to the Hawks.
George Washington Prep's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.7 runs over those games. As for Crenshaw, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
George Washington Prep took their win against Crenshaw in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 20-14 score. Will the Generals repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
