Basketball Game Preview: Leadership Academy Falcons vs. Winston-Salem Prep Phoenix

The Leadership Academy Falcons will venture away from home to challenge the Winston-Salem Prep Phoenix at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Leadership Academy will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Carver, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Leadership Academy secured a 73-69 W over Carver on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.

Leadership Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caleb Foster led the charge by going 10 of 15 on his way to 20 points and eight boards. Foster has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Ryker, who went 11 of 16 on his way to 24 points and three steals.

While Winston-Salem Prep didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Cornerstone Charter 76-48 on Thursday. The Phoenix have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 22 points or more this season.

Leadership Academy pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.6 points per game. As for Winston-Salem Prep, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.

Leadership Academy won a contest that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in January of 2024, slipping by Winston-Salem Prep 55-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Leadership Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
