Softball Recap: Rocky Mount Academy Finds Home Field Redemption Against Harrells Christian Academy

There's no place like home for Rocky Mount Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They blew past the Harrells Christian Academy Crusaders 8-1 on Wednesday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Berkeley Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 19 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Ryleigh Evans and Bailee Allen did most of the damage at the plate: Evans went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Allen scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That stolen base was Allen's first of the season.

Rocky Mount Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harrells Christian Academy only posted a batting average of .091.

The win got Rocky Mount Academy back to even at 6-6. As for Harrells Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Coming up, Rocky Mount Academy will square off against Lawrence Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Harrells Christian Academy, they will take on GRACE Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Crusaders will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last six matchups.
