Konawa put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the Little Axe Indians as Konawa made off with a 9-1 victory. While the Tigers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Hayden Moore made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Konawa got a massive performance out of Cooper McKeel, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. What's more, McKeel posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Raydon Sitton also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Konawa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Little Axe only posted an OBP of .211.
Konawa's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Little Axe, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Coming up, Konawa is taking a road trip to take on Varnum at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Little Axe, they will welcome Lindsay at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
