The Southern Maryland Christian Academy Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Chesapeake 63-30. While losing is never fun, Southern Maryland Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while Chesapeake is ranked 85th).
Chesapeake got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maggie Lawrence out in front who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Arruda, who scored seven points along with five steals.
Southern Maryland Christian Academy dropped their record down to 3-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Chesapeake, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-5.
Southern Maryland Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-24 loss vs. King's Christian Academy on the 8th. Chesapeake has also already played their next contest, a 53-33 loss against Severna Park on the 7th.
