Penncrest has gone 9-1 against Harriton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Lions will square off against the Rams at 5:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Wednesday, Penncrest didn't have quite enough to beat Marple Newtown and fell 3-2. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
Penncrest wouldn't go down easily and took Marple Newtown into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-21, 23-25, 23-25, 15-10.
Meanwhile, Harriton didn't have quite enough to beat Springfield on Friday and fell 3-2.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Harriton sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 29-27, 17-25, 25-22, 23-25, 18-16.
Penncrest will have to keep a close watch on Ava Katrinak and Irene Curry, a pair of players who had a big impact on Harriton's prior game. Katrinak had 17 digs and three aces, while Curry had 19 digs and eight kills. Another player making a difference was Sophia Zhang, who had seven digs and four aces.
Harriton now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Penncrest, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Penncrest came out on top in a nail-biter against Harriton in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
