The Benbrook Bobcats will face off against the Boyd Yellowjackets at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Benbrook has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Tuesday, Benbrook and Rio Vista finished up their matchup with a 13-13 draw.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Boyd, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Jacksboro on Tuesday. That eight-run margin sets a new team best for the Yellowjackets this season.
Abby Atkinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Maddilynn Harrison and Bella Tipton did most of the damage at the plate: Harrison went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while Tipton went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Gabby Salas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Boyd kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2025.
Boyd's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. Benbrook's tie makes their record 2-3-1 this season.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Benbrook has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Boyd struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 1.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
