The Cypress Falls Eagles will take on the Stratford Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cypress Falls has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with eight straight defeats, while Stratford will come in with four straight wins.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Cypress Falls challenged Jersey Village on Tuesday. The Eagles came up short against the Falcons, falling 17-9.

Jazlyn Moran and Ava Leblanc did some serious damage despite the final result: Moran scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Leblanc scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Leblanc is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Aubrey Leblanc was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Stratford hadn't done well against Cy-Fair recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Spartans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Bobcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted since February 28th.
Gwyn Katterhenry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.
At the plate, Stratford's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Allison Hibbetts, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Stratford pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cypress Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 4-15.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cypress Falls has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. However, it's not like Stratford struggles in that department as they've averaged .437. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cypress Falls might still be hurting after the 18-6 defeat they got from Stratford when the teams last played back in March. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
