Westminster has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Casteel Colts in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday at. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Westminster beat Rampart 61-50.
Brooke Gomez had a dynamite game for Westminster, scoring 32 points along with seven rebounds. Mia Sanchez was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Casteel has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 30 points or more this season. They took their contest at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 54-20 victory over Queen Creek. With that victory, Casteel brought their scoring average up to 50.1 points per game.
Casteel got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Lewis out in front who scored 17 points. The matchup was Lewis' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Amanda Anderson, who scored 12 points along with four blocks.
The victory got Westminster back to even at 3-3. As for Casteel, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-4.
