The Foxcroft Academy Ponies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their eighth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 51-25 walloping at the hands of Old Town. While losing is never fun, Foxcroft Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Old Town is ranked fifth).
Several Ponies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Allie Smith, who scored five points along with five rebounds. Madyson Kimball was another key contributor, scoring three points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Foxcroft Academy's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-12. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.3 points per game. As for Old Town, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Foxcroft Academy will take on Hermon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hermon is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Old Town, they will head out on the road to square off against John Bapst Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
