The Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays were the 62-59 winner over the River Valley Panthers when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Conemaugh Valley fell just short of River Valley by a score of 50-47. Conemaugh Valley has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Conemaugh Valley lost on Monday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jeremy Dietz, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Dietz hasn't dropped below 15 points for 14 straight games. Another player making a difference was Bryton Yackulich, who scored 12 points.
Conemaugh Valley struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
River Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brad McDivitt, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McDivitt has scored all season. Dom Speal was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Conemaugh Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 18-4. As for River Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
Conemaugh Valley will head out on the road to face off against Ferndale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for River Valley, they will face off against Conemaugh Township at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully River Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Monday.
