Fort Bragg and Cloverdale are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Timberwolves will venture away from home to square off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fort Bragg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Fort Bragg after they put the first run on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Clear Lake by a score of 10-9. While the Timberwolves didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cardinals 4-0 in the first period.
Nyelli Padila spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and nine unearned) runs on ten hits.
At the plate, Katelyn Burbeck was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Hailey Ross was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Cloverdale came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Cardinals 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Kaloni Brown, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Emmersyn Reasoner, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Cloverdale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .405 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Fort Bragg's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Cloverdale, their record now sits at 8-2.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fort Bragg hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Cloverdale struggles in that department as they've averaged .404. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fort Bragg might still be hurting after the 14-4 defeat they got from Cloverdale when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Timberwolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
