The Riverside-Durham Pirates waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They skirted past Jordan 50-48. This was payback for Riverside-Durham, who suffered a 67-61 defeat the last time these two teams met.
It was another big night for Corey Hairston Jr., who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Jaden Butler was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 14 rebounds.
Jordan's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zion Wells, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Bryce Hill, who scored six points.
Riverside-Durham has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Jordan, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-10.
Riverside-Durham will challenge East Chapel Hill at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully East Chapel Hill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday. As for Jordan, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Northern Durham at 8:00 p.m. Jordan is facing Northern Durham at the right time seeing as Northern Durham is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
