GRANADA HILLS, Calif. - After taking the lead in the fourth quarter,
South Gate (Calif.) held on for a 26-24 victory over
Granada Hills Charter (Granada Hills, Calif.) on Saturday. The difference for the Rams was that
Lavell Thompson ran for a touchdown.
The Highlanders pulled ahead on a
Ramon Johnson touchdown pass to
Jordan Williams, and subsequently went into halftime leading 26--1. The Rams took the lead for good with a touchdown run by Thompson in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring eight points in the third, South Gate still trailed by 30 points going into the fourth quarter. But six points in the fourth helped SG pull out the victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Granada Hills Charter, which notched a 37-6 victory over Grant in its previous outing. The loss broke Granada Hills Charter's two-game winning streak. The win brought South Gate's winning streak to three games.
