Bergen Catholic is 8-1 against Paramus Catholic since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Bergen Catholic Crusaders will head out on the road to face off against the Paramus Catholic Paladins at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bergen Catholic has five straight victories, Paramus Catholic has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Bergen Catholic can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They breezed by St. Peter's Prep on the road to the tune of 37-7. Given Bergen Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked first, while St. Peter's Prep is ranked 36th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bergen Catholic can attribute much of their success to Kaj Sanders, who rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Quincy Porter also helped out with an impressive 81 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Paramus Catholic suffered a rough 35-14 loss at the hands of Don Bosco Prep on Friday. Paramus Catholic was down 28-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Paramus Catholic's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Crew Colon, who rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown, and Jadin Johnson who picked up 119 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Bergen Catholic's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.4 points per game. As for Paramus Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Everything came up roses for Bergen Catholic against Paramus Catholic in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 48-20 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bergen Catholic since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
