Tug Valley is 0-7 against Wayne since May of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tug Valley has three straight wins, Wayne has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
If Tug Valley beats Wayne with eight runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Panthers came out on top against Teays Valley Christian by a score of 8-5 on Saturday.

Gavin Fitzpatrick was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Fitzpatrick was also solid in the batter's box, earning two runs and three stolen bases. Tug Valley is undefeated when Fitzpatrick posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-9 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Austin Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Hayden Brumfield was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Tug Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Wayne came up short against Lincoln County on Wednesday and fell 10-6.
Brady Dyer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Avery Nicely also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Tug Valley pushed their record up to 9-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wayne, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.
Tug Valley couldn't quite get it done against Wayne in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 5-0. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
