The Hunter Wolverines scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 79-65 victory over Stansbury. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Dominick Phannolath continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 35 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The matchup was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. Zaquel Cossa was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Stansbury still got an impressive performance from Luke Rich, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Rich continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dylan Giles, who scored 13 points.
Even though they lost, Stansbury were working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
The win got Hunter back to even at 3-3. As for Stansbury, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Hunter will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Kearns at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. As for Stansbury, they will head out on the road to face off against Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
