The Clear Creek Golddiggers will head out on the road to square off against the Dawson School Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Clear Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Clear Creek came up short against Vail Christian and fell 53-41. Clear Creek has struggled against Vail Christian recently, as their game on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Clear Creek's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Collin Hendrickson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds, and Alex Shriner who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. That was a full 36.6% of Clear Creek's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler O'Brien, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Dawson School posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 54-14 win over Gilpin County. Dawson School pushed the score to 49-10 by the end of the third, a deficit Gilpin County had no chance of recovering from.
Clear Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Dawson School, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.
Clear Creek came up short against Dawson School in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 44-36. Can Clear Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
