Glen Ridge has gone a perfect 4-0 against Payne Tech recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Ridgers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 4:00 p.m. Glen Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Glen Ridge is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Montclair on Saturday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mounties. The Ridgers haven't had much luck with the Mounties recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Glen Ridge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Siri ?Socks? Krabbe, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Payne Tech made easy work of Belleville on Wednesday and carried off a 12-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Leilani Oyola made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Oyola was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Olivia Mendez and Marisela Sanabria did most of the damage at the plate: Mendez got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs and two doubles, while Sanabria went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most doubles Mendez has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayliana Hernandez, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Payne Tech and bumps their season record up to 6-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Glen Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Glen Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. However, it's not like Payne Tech struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Glen Ridge skirted past Payne Tech 4-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Ridgers repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
