Basketball Recap: Spencer Campbell Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Cross Lanes Christian

While Elk Valley Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took down the Cross Lanes Christian Warriors 62-43 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for Elk Valley Christian.

Elk Valley Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Spencer Campbell, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 boards. Campbell is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Evan Hines was another key player, going 7 for 10 on his way to 17 points and four blocks.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Ballard, who posted ten points and six rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Ballard a new career-high in assists (two). Another player making a difference was Christian Shamblin, who went 5 of 12 en route to 11 points and seven boards.

Elk Valley Christian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for Cross Lanes Christian, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Elk Valley Christian will head out on the road to challenge Morgantown Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Morgantown Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.6 points per game this season. As for Cross Lanes Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-40 victory against Bloomingdale on the 14th.
