The Lutheran Lions posted their biggest win since December 9, 2023 on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cheyenne Mountain 55-25 on the road. Given Lutheran's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Cheyenne Mountain is ranked 258th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Lutheran to victory were Jayda Vigil and Berkley Schneider. Vigil scored 21 points, while Schneider scored 12 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vigil has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikaela-zoe Colon, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and two blocks.
Cheyenne Mountain lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aria King, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Lutheran has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Lutheran will head out on the road to square off against Resurrection Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Resurrection Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Lewis-Palmer at 6:00 p.m.
