Basketball Recap: Seymour Skates Past Waterbury Career Academy with Ease

Seymour entered their tilt with Waterbury Career Academy on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 74-33 stomp they got against the Waterbury Career Academy Spartans. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 28 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Seymour to victory, but perhaps none more so than Skylar Barton, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The contest was Barton's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Viktoria Michalczyk, who posted ten points in addition to seven assists and four steals.

Seymour smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.

Seymour's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Waterbury Career Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seymour and Woodland Regional will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Waterbury Career Academy, they will challenge Holy Cross at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
