Brown 54-50. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as West Rowan came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while A.L. Brown is ranked 323rd).
When it comes to explaining why West Rowan lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Will Givens Jr.. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points. The game was Givens Jr.'s tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kayvone Norman, who scored six points.
West Rowan has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for A.L. Brown, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
West Rowan will head out on the road to face off against Central Cabarrus at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. A.L. Brown and Carson will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Carson's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
