The Clear Fork Colts will challenge the Lexington Minutemen at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Wednesday, Clear Fork got the win against Shelby by a conclusive 7-1.
Miley Shafer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits.
At the plate, Katrina Rogers was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Brokaw, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Clear Fork hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Lexington waltzed into their game on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They put the hurt on the Arrows with a sharp 11-1 win. That's two games straight that the Minutemen have won by exactly ten runs.
Makaree Chapman made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kylie Thornton, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Alexis Cantrell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one double.
Lexington pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Clear Fork, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Both Clear Fork and Lexington just can't seem to miss. The Colts have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Lexington struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Clear Fork might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Lexington when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Colts have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
