The Southaven Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 66-43 walloping at the hands of Center Hill. While losing is never fun, Southaven can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Center Hill is ranked 45th).
Center Hill was led to victory by Jairya Rankins and Zarria Shipp. Rankins dropped a double-double on 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Shipp scored 24 points along with 7 rebounds. The game was Rankins' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Anniyah Bailey, who scored 7 points.
Southaven's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Center Hill, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.
Southaven will head out on the road to face off against Lake Cormorant at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Cormorant has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 192 points over their last three games. As for Center Hill, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Hutchison at 6:00 p.m.
