Make it five blowout wins for the East Tigers this season. They took their matchup at home on Monday with ease, bagging a 60-22 victory over Cristo Rey. The victory was familiar territory for East who now have four in a row.
Kaliyah Barron was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of East's points. Yanni Smith was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
East's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Cristo Rey, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
East won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Northland at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Cristo Rey's road trip will continue as they head out to face Fairfield Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st.
