Warwick and Middletown are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Middie Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Warwick has six straight victories, Middletown has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Warwick had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Washingtonville on Thursday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Wizards.
Olivia Martino was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Etta Garofalo was incredible, firing off two home runs, three stolen bases, and four runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Camryn Moore also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Warwick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Middletown came up short against Newburgh Free Academy on Thursday and fell 7-3.
Alissandra Soto made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Gabriella Diaz, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Warwick's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Middletown, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Middletown's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Warwick hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. It's a different story for Middletown, though, as they've only averaged .242. Will they be able to contain Warwick's hitters?
Everything went Warwick's way against Middletown in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, as Warwick made off with an 8-2 win. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Middie Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
