Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask E.L. Haynes). They took down Washington Leadership Academy 56-42 on Thursday. For E.L. Haynes, this counts as revenge for the 60-46 win Washington Leadership Academy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.

E.L. Haynes' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elyan Beatriz led the charge by putting up 17 points. Those 17 points gave Beatriz a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jekhi Hatcher, who posted 17 points.

Despite the loss, Washington Leadership Academy had strong showings from Amari Clarke, who had 14 points, and Zyahir Mack, who earned 13 points. Another player making a difference was Amant'E Taylor, who put up seven points.

The victory made it two in a row for E.L. Haynes and bumps their season record up to 3-7. As for Washington Leadership Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Richard Wright Public Charter School the next time they take the court. Washington Leadership Academy will host Richard Wright Public Charter School at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025, while E.L. Haynes will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
