The Hyde Park Thunderbirds will head out on the road to challenge the Trinity Blazers at 8:15 p.m. on Monday. Trinity took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Hyde Park, who comes in off a win.
Hyde Park put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 69-36 victory over Simeon at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 65-30.
Hyde Park's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jazmyne Bynum, who scored 24 points along with six assists and five rebounds, and Mia Gaines, who dropped a triple-double on 22 points, 16 rebounds, and ten blocks. Gaines continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Kiera Wilson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Trinity unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Loyola Academy, falling 70-37. While losing is never fun, Trinity can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Loyola Academy is ranked second).
Hyde Park's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Trinity, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
