Newell-Fonda had to travel to play their first game of the season, and the final result was worth the trip. They were fully in charge last Friday, breezing past Collins-Maxwell 53-14.
Meanwhile, Coon Rapids-Bayard took care of business in their home opener. They steamrollered Baxter 89-28.
Their wins bumped Coon Rapids-Bayard to 1-0 and Newell-Fonda to 1-0. With both Newell-Fonda and Coon Rapids-Bayard swaggering in after impressive performances, it will be interesting to see which team steps up to teach the other some humility.
